NTPC Limited (NTPC) is negotiating with the Bhutan government for setting up a 600 MW hydel power plant, to be valued over INR36 billion. NTPC is preparing a detailed project report for the 600 MW Amochu hydro power project in Bhutan. The report is likely to be completed by early 2011. NTPC plans to execute the project through the joint venture route.
"We will try and work out with the Bhutan Government to execute the project through the joint venture route," NTPC senior officials said.
Further NTPC is also preparing the pre-feasibility report for the 5,000 MW Siang hydro power project in Arunachal Pradesh.
"The Arunachal Pradesh government has agreed to give the project to us (NTPC) for execution," NTPC said.
The pre-feasibility report would conclude in six months from now.
NTPC is currently executing three hydro electric power projects--- 800 MW Koldam in Himachal Pradesh, 600 MW Loharinag Pala (Uttarakhand) and 520 MW Tapovan Vishnugad (Uttarakhand).
